Terry signs 5-year contract with Chelsea FC
July 27th, 2007 Posted in Chelsea FC | 1 Comment »Chelsea captain, John Terry, signed a 5-year contract with Chelsea FC. John Terry, who had 2 years left on his Chelsea contract, is now bound to Chelsea until 2012. John Terry was very happy that he was staying with the club.
Terry told the club’s website: ‘I’m really happy this has now been concluded.
‘There has been a lot of speculation but these things take time and I never had any doubts that I wanted to stay at Chelsea and that the club wanted me to stay.
Terry has always been a strong player for Chelsea when he arrived there in 1998 under the captainship of Marcel Desailly. He scored the game winner against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. He was voted best defender in the UEFA Champions Leauge tournament. Terry was a key component in leading Chelsea to consecutive English Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006.He has also proved himself with the English national side. Terry scored the first international goal at the new Wembly Stadium against Brazil. Terry is currently the captain for England after David Beckham stepped down. Terry was the only player from the English national side to be on the 2006 World Cup’s all-star squad.
Terry and Michael Owen are the main faces for the Umbro sports line. Terry is also involved in a sponsorship deal with the football gaming series Pro Evolution Soccer. He also appears in adverts for Samsung and Nationwide.
